The Social Media Marketing Industry Report seals the fact by their survey which states that 86% of the marketers indicate that Social media is Important for their business.

Now coming to the recent trends:

  1. Content marketing is always the king:

The social media is the widely used content marketing tool. This year has seen a huge increase in the brands emerging as the publishers of their own content. However, Creative quality content will be the critical need as the consumers will shift through the clutter to find a best article and Google algorithm will reward the most clicked content.

  1. Budgets have become bigger:

The budget spend by companies on social media marketing have become bigger this year.The Strongview states that 93% of the surveyed marketers have planned to increase marking budget focused on customer engagement in 2014, of which 46% goes to social media marketing.  The companies have started to hire social media specialists to advice on social media planning, creation, execution, reporting and analysis as they believe it would increase their brand awareness, loyalty and influence.

Over Facebook, Images receive 50 % more interaction than text based post and google + have seen more than 3.4 billion image uploads, twitter allows inline images with tweets. Pinterest has seen 80% of its pins being repined giving out that pinned images are highly likely to be shared by other users. The concept is simple, through images we could communicate millions of words.

The year 2014 has seen the marketers flocking Google + for following reasons.

This year, more marketers will set up Google+ Pages for businesses, primarily because it’s backed by Google. From there, businesses will create meaningful two-way communication with consumers on Google+.

The contest and competitions has become more preferred method for marketers to expand reach and build lists via social media marketing. Challenging consumers with interactive contests, like quizzes and Photo captions, creates more social media engagement and helps the company to acquire fans and email addresses for the follow up messaging.

Reporting goes beyond “Likes” gained this year. The marketers are concerned in efforts to align their business objectives and move the meter. The marketers have released that simply attracting more followers on twitter is not enough, there should be significant increase in customer service or sales too.

More than 28% of the marketers have optimized their blogs for mobile and hence the forthcoming year will see large investments in responsive design.

The year 2014 has seen the social media platforms touching every facet of successful inbound marketing strategy and serve up the content where the consumer want it  most and encouraging two-way communication.
